Oh the joys of remote working! I’m writing this column on my iPad in its ‘away from home’ cover which includes a Bluetooth keyboard, whilst sitting in the waiting room at Conrad Anderson in darkest Birmingham whilst the mobile internet satellite and Wi-Fi system is being fitted to our Motorhome.
When travelling around the country we have found that often mobile coverage is poor and Wi-Fi hot spots whilst appearing like a rash in the cities, are widely scattered, slow or crippled for more than basic single user use once you get into the country areas.
3G is a joke in Scotland for example and as to when 4G will arrive there is anybody’s guess. Hence the decision after many months of agonising to have this rather expensive system installed, but at least it is a solution that will work throughout Europe and up as far North as the Shetland Isles, so all we need now is some fine weather.
