Dealing with accents on database driven web site

When Written:

Having just spent some time trying to diagnose the reason for a new IIS / SQL server persistence not to display accented characters even though within the SQL database the accents were correct and the code page on the web site was correct on this new development server, so much head scratching ensued.

The answer that I found in the end was the regional settings on the new server were set at USA and not UK so the code page on the server was incorrect. An easy fix in the end but as they say an easy question is one you know the answer to!
