Microsoft worries me..

Sometimes companies like Microsoft worry me.

Here they are writing software that runs our lives and one would hope they can run their company properly. Any illusion to this nirvana is shattered when incidents like the one that occurred to me the other day.

My company subscribes to Microsoft’s Action Pack (see we don’t get everything free just because we scribble a few words for a magazine) , so with the latest update came a notice that our subscription was about to expire and please could I renew today.

So I typed the fifty four character URL (haven’t they heard of TinyURL?) and after logging in was informed that my subscription was up to date.

I then went back to the piece of paper that came with the DVDs and noticed that it assured me that “…work to provide a more streamlined renewal process…..reinstate the requirement in late 2009” , ho hum…
