Outlook Auto Archive

When Written: April 2015

Outlook will auto archive emails based on the last time modified which may be not quite what you are expecting. If you want your achive based on the date the email was sent to you then you will need to tweak the registry a bit.

Lets assume that you are using Outlook 2013 ( although there are similar fixes for older versions ) open up regedit and goto HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook\Preferences then add a Dword with the name ArchiveIgnoreLastModifiedTime and give it a value of 1

Then restart Outlook and the next time Autoarchive runs the new settings should take effect.

If you want to see the full description of this ‘hack’ and the settings for Outlook 2010 then go to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2553550?wa=wsignin1.0
