Visual Studio 2013 update

When Written: April 2014

As I was writing this article, Microsoft announced Windows 8.1 and Phone 8.1 at ‘Build 2014’ their developers conference, and along with this there has been a major update to Visual Studio 2013, this update ( http://www.asp.net/visual-studio/overview/2013/aspnet-and-web-tools-20132-preview-for-visual-studio-2013-release-notes ) is called ‘Update 2’ and is also available on the free Visual Studio Express version. The main improvements that come with this update is to make the building of Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1 Apps easier with support for HTML/ JavaScript as well as C#/XAML. The buzzword that is being used around this update is ‘Universal Windows Apps’ the goal being that you will be able to build desktop and phone Apps within the same project and this same code will run across different Windows devices.

Visual Studio 2013 Update 2 enables sharing of code in Universal Apps for different devices
